Several people sent me links recently to a new sports news aggregation site called Ball Hype.

The site seems to be a combination of Technorati and DIGG for Sports bloggers. It tracks 1,600 sports related blogs, and invites users to submit links to sports stories, then lets fans “hype” stories (up or down). Seems to offer sports bloggers a chance to become “famous”. Ballhype also allows you to search for and join groups, post to forums, and track game results.

My comments: I like the idea, and the site is designed really well, but I wonder how the Ballhype creators will gain traction on a Web that is already crowded with others “destinations” for sports fans.

I will reach out to these guys. Maybe we can partner to help eachother. We are about to launch our social network for Colts fans, but we haven’t built our own news aggregation tool yet. It might be interesting to introduce Colts to Ball Hype inside our system, and let more the outside world find My Colts Network throught the Ballhype community.
