Upcoming meetings offer REAL LIFE collaboration

I’ve really enjoyed blogging these past couple of months. Every day I get up early, make the coffee, do some reading and try to write something interesting before the kids wake up and it’s time to hit the showers and get to work.

It is fun to see the readership of this blog grow. Day before yesterday 110 people stopped by to read. This really gives me a charge. Perhaps all the hours I’m pouring into this blog. Perhaps my words are resonating with others. Maybe we can even re-think and re-shape our industries!

I only wish more people would comment.

I am not blogging because I am an expert. I am blogging because I want to learn. Certainly I can learn by doing things myself. In fact, that’s what my blog is about, the things we’re trying (and learning) as we set about re-creating the Colts online system. I hope you are finding this helpful.

But, selfishly, I’d like to accelerate my learning by hearing what others are up to. Surely there are people out there who are testing and trying new ways to build community and commerce in their jobs? Whether its sports related or not, I’m interested in your stories and ideas.

Still, even with the power of the Web at our fingertips, there’s not substitute for the real thing.

In pursuit of collaboration, I am considering the following real life, in-person events in early 2007. Let me know if you plan to attend any of these events, or if there are others you have discovered. I’d like to know about them. And perhaps we can meet in-person to collaborate.

We Media Miami
The program includes a series of roundtable discussions and a variety of participatory activities involving communities, individuals and organizations to help participants understand and address the challenges of a changing multi-media world, and to stimulate innovation and investment in projects and services that strengthen communities.

South by Southwest Interactive
Attracting digital creatives as well as visionary technology entrepreneurs, the SXSW Interactive Festival enables you to connect, discover and inspire your link to the cutting edge.

Web 2.0 Expo 2007
A companion event to the Web 2.0 Summit, Web 2.0 Expo is the first event specifically designed to help teach Web 2.0 techniques and best practices to people in the trenches directly involved in the design, development, engineering, marketing, and business of second-generation internet technology.

I’m definitely planning to attend South by Southwest. I may have to choose one or the other between We Media and Web 2.0. Anyone out there have recommendations??
